Babylon Poem by Alexander Beebe

Babylon

Rating: 5.0

Immoral thoughts of mortal men
that strangle all the senses
will we succumb to all that's new,
forsaking sacred thought?
Towering statues that we build to
remind us of our greatness.
The shifting sand will run its
course and crumble all the places.

Babylon you horrid wretch let go your
grasp around our hearts.
Deception you cast out on us to
fool the minds of blinded souls.
Your weight I'll carry upon my back
until I reach the edge of space.
It's there I'll cast you to the darkness
and watch you scream to heavens face.

Waves that form from earth that's torn
can wash the parchment clean once more.
We know the outcome of the story should
we choose to hear it told.
The eyes of doves above us
watching, looking for the sacred branch.
The second flight will prove us fruitless,
no treetops left for talons grasp.

Babylon you horrid wretch let go
your grasp around our hearts.
Deception you cast out on us to
fool the minds of blinded souls.
Your weight I'll carry upon my
back until I reach the edge of space.
It's there I'll cast you to the darkness
and watch you scream to heavens face.

It's all a dream of what is feared enough
to last a 1000 years.
I know the promise that He made will
leave us safe beyond our fears.
But other means we keep sin hidden to
feed our demons but keep them caged.
Until such time with all our sadness,
we finally see His face again.
It's then I'll look upon His Son
and know my sins are finally raised.
