Baikal And Lena Poem by Purbesh Mahapatra

Baikal And Lena

My love for you overflows the shadows of imagination
In a dark bar in Siberia at dawn
Mixing whisky and vodka since the night before

Friends from far lands have come
To see the tidings of hearts and fates
They have come not hiding
Nor they came for the certain danger

The false chaos of the noises
The shy bulbs in the corners
Aimless shadows bending and vanishing
Wherever eyes went to see nothing

Rounded tables in that place
Tell in mysterious ways to keep drinking
I looked at the watch and felt for my rifle
Let today it not be put to use
I am just waiting for someone to come
My last ride will last until my home

The Lord will not forgive
The sins of me and my friends
The paths of life like roots of trees
One such end of the road
Starts from this very black building
I hear my friends rejoice in bliss
As the north wind blasts the windows beside me
The gales of heartbeats run wild and free
A sad heart when feels strong
Tears of joy roll along
All pains vanish and fancy ambitions
As our eyes meet to ask for directions

The ale maker will keep a heavy fee
I pay in silvers and tip in gold
Till my pockets are empty
