Ballard To A Bimbo Poem by ANTHONY ANIGBATA

Ballard To A Bimbo

BALLARD TO A BIMBO

Lady let me love you before I'm gone
Before my love for you shall be
Nothing but more wishes and ashes,
And shall continue to fade
Like the setting sun at dusk.

Let me love you before I'm gone
Before the morning dew sits
On my head, and grave be calling,
When I shall no longer desire
This fruity hug, but that righteous act
Which comes with the snow-hairs

Unfold your heart for me to follow
Now the days are still young and bright
And let me step on that which pleases you
Too drunk to know my deeds
We shall continue to speak of love
That ardent spirit we all desire
Singing sweet songs like the evening birds.

Let me love you before I'm gone
Like the days which never comes back
Like time which travels forth
Like life, that lies still without breath
Like dreams that die at dawn
Let me love you, before I desire nothing
But my creation to know

Let me love you before I'm gone
To dash this sweetness to the ants
For true no one finds it pleasant there
But now in dandy dust. Our love should now be
That evergreen foliage of the forest
And shall continue till when this page is covered
By the gravel in the undertakers shovel

Let me love you before I'm gone
Before another more angelic by many walk
And I, simply to satisfy this lust
Shall hug and forget I ever
Desired and cherished thou
Like the shady eyes of butterfly
Do the nosy petals of red rose.

So lady, let me love you before I'm gone.
Let me treasure thine tresses
Bestow beads on thine bare breasts
Bow to thine beau every dawn;
Let me love you, for time stands not still
And the day is already darkening
The bell soon shall be ringing
And I, without hesitation shall answer
The call never to return this way
