Banning Books And Not Guns Poem by Randy McClave

Banning Books And Not Guns

Not one child has ever died from reading a book
A child's life it has never took,
They were created to open the imagination and the mind
And new wonders and excitement for the child to find.
The book gives the child the reason to read
And great information to the soul and mind it will heed,
And the book gives the child great mysteries and wonders to understand
But, now those books are all being banned.
Guns were designed for one purpose and that was to kill
They were designed to end someone's belief and will,
When you see a gun lying on any table
You know immediately that taking a life it is ready and able.
But, when you see a book on any table top
You know reading it can create knowledge with the tendency for hate to stop,
But, they want to stop the reading of those types of books anymore
They do not believe in peace and contentment, they want war.
The republicans now want to tell our children what to view
What to read or to understand whether it be old or new,
So, I say this to all fathers and mothers and daughters and sons
The republicans happily ban books, but they won't ban guns.
