Bapsi Sidhwa's Water: A Personal Assessment Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Bapsi Sidhwa's Water: A Personal Assessment

Rating: 3.5

India seen
Through the eyes
Of a child widow,
Widows at an early age
Or she remembers it not
The face of her husband.

Where to go,
What to do,
Who to stand by
The problem of hers?

In search of purity,
Chastity,
Where have we drifted to?
Say, what is stainless?

With a tulsimala
She in the ashram,
But the heart takes to it not.

Where to go to finally,
To Vaishnava Ashram
Or Gandhi ashram?
