Bapsi Sidhwa's The Pakistani Bride Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Bapsi Sidhwa's The Pakistani Bride

The Pakistani bride
Or the Hindustani bride
Or the Irani Parsee bride,
A Partition girl telling her story
Of life
As Saleem Sinai in Midnight's Children?

A romantic girl,
Whose bride will she be,
Will she have no freedom to select
Or it will be an arranged marriage
Even though a mismatch
Like that of Bluntschli and Raina,
Sergius and Louka of G.B.Shaw's
Arms and the Man?
