Bare Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Bare

Bare

Is truth the same as nakedness?
I believe, not just guess!

Wish we could undress
As fish are in water
And other creatures
Everywhere in nature.

They never wear jackets
Nor look at the others
To follow day's fashion.

Why the hell feel ashamed?
Why bareness is a shame?

Is it not commerce game?
Is it not what I heard?

"Priests and Manchester
United and managed,
To dress Africans,
In the name of the faith
Religion of Jesus,
So, textiles were woven,
Days and nights, exported
In the yards and meters
In the tons, sheets, layers,
While Blacks were hunted
To expand Britain…"
I have read, overheard.

Colony
Colonise
Colonised
Colonisation
All hone on:
"Brainwash! "

Time has come for the change
Erase, burn, the fashions,
"Decolonise, " "Undress."
