Barely Alive - Poem by Sandra Osborne

Barely alive,
And floating
Above some empty
Stained sea.

Across which
My soul
Lies quietly watching

When my baby son was 2 yrs old. He went to my mother-in -law for the weekend. She gave him caustic soda to drink and it obviously killed him. This poem explains how i felt for years after the event. I died that day too. Thanks for such a clear way to explain that kind of emotion.

Ah, Sandra, that is so poignant, and sad, and it so reminds me of me, not so long touched me in very few words.
    Warm regards, Theodora Onken
