Barely Dawn Poem by Tricia Mae Chua

Barely Dawn

It’s 6: 30 A.M. and dark outside; still barely dawn.
I fix my morning milk shake like I always do
As I listen to the radio anchorman
Talk on of the current housing crisis,
the increase in unemployment rate,
the dropp in the stock market,
and the latest corporate debacle.
Then on to the morning commute
and the latest weather forecast-
A moment by moment ECG
Monitoring the life pulse of a nation
In the throes of economic recession.
I close the door behind me just as dawn breaks
A light rain falls and I leave home for work.
