The lure of the drink is hard to pass by.
It loosens the tongue, and makes us sly.
The bar is a place where many gather,
Just to get high, and to sometimes blather.
I spent years there, wasting my time.
Although, I didn't think it was a crime.
The years spent, I'd been better off in bed.
I should have done something else instead.
I learned to hustle pool, and drink for free.
Why spend my money - no not me.
I made a few bucks, most every night.
The lack of dough was not my plight.
It was all the time wasted, that now bugs me.
I could have done something else, you see.
Built a home, or married a good wife.
Not just drank, and wasted my life.
Pool is a lot of fun, and a great sport.
And you don't even have to commit a tort.
Just beware of how, and where you play,
Get out of the bar, and I mean today.
Now I'm old and the years do show,
On my face and I'd like you to know.
If you do what I did, you may have fun,
But you'll regret it, if you don't just run,
Away.
