Bastille Poem by Ima Ryma

Bastille

Built by the French, named the Bastille,
I became the main prison that
Was the fav way French kings did deal
With foes, using my habitat
As place, out of sight, out of mind.
But in seventeen eighty nine
On July 14th, I did find
The storming of the walls of mine
By French revolutionists who
Were calling for behead the king.
That's exactly what they did do,
And I became a symbol thing.

I was not long for Paris town.
Revolutionists tore me down.
