Bazaar Of The Moon Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Bazaar Of The Moon

Long time had the moon
Looking down on earth
Observed
Hidden in a vale of gloom
A market attended
by
Goblins and fauns
Satyrs and nymphs
Sileni and the rest…..

The Moon decided
To make its own
Friendly market…

Sell all for nothing
For the Moon gave away
Trinkets of sacred stone
From it
Bits of animals fossilized
Amongst its rocks…
Still untouched minerals
The moon had not the principle
Of money or of barter
As on this Earth…

Wry grew the goblins and
The rest of the brood…
Wry how could they beat
This new competitor?
And the Moon sold all
Made its market
And so on rare days
To goblins' dismay
The Moon descending to
A secret spot on Earth
Holds court and its market.
