Be A Friend Poem by Loyd C Taylor Sr

Be A Friend

Be a friend, and share the Gospel.
Shake a hand and give a smile.
Do away with all excuses;
Go the extra heartfelt mile.

The sands of time will wait for no one,
We must hasten, not delay.
Many souls now need salvation.
Jesus needs our help today.

"A friend loveth at all times…" Proverbs 17: 17

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The summer has ended at the writting of this piece. Soon, it will be autumn full-blown! Leaves will be changing into a rainbow of colors, then one by one gently falling to the ground. Nature's creatures will be storing food, gathering materials preparing for what they know will soon be wintertime. God teaches us to go to the little critters and to learn from them.

For example: "Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man." Proverbs 6: 6-11

We certainly can and should learn from the rest of God's creation. I believe there is much to prepare for in this life. The most important preparation is for life to come. Soon this life will be over, and we will enter into eternity.

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation." Hebrews 9: 27-28

We become adequately prepared for eternity by trusting in the work Christ did on the cross when He provided the perfect sacrifice for our sins. I accepted this salvation many years ago, and I trust that you have as well. If not, do not delay.

"Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee…" Isaiah 49: 8

"For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." 2 Corinthians 6: 2

I believe that you and I should also help others prepare for eternity as well. Start praying right now and asking God to put the name of someone on your heart that you can invite. Just do your best to reach out to them, pray for them, and then let God do the rest!

This action could be one of the most important and life-changing steps you will ever take!
