Be Strong Poem by John Howard Davies

Be Strong

BE STRONG
by John Howard Davies 9th. October 2016

Be strong although there's nothing left
be at your best no second guess
take time to renegotiate
the way you look and the time you take

Be up be smiling be at one
be who you are and overcome
be bright be cheery be someone
be what you need to be, and some

Be honest, truthful don't be weak
make clear the words you need to speak
Be brave, be solid and most of all
be their hero once more, don't fall

It can be done and be achieved
the crying and the pain relieved
that heart you wear there on your sleeve
can calm and help you in your grief

None of us can bear such pain
remembering times again and again
our dreams, our hopes all down the drain
and nothing there to take the blame

Shout at heaven damn deep hell
as that loss inside you swells
then without a single warning
you're faced with yet another morning

A friend, a text a lost relation
appears like a magicians expectation
from the depths of happier days
to bring you sunshine with their ways

A song, a poem a passage read
flowers lay with you instead
of me and us and we to tread
this path we walked and what we said

Be strong, be passionate
be what is now
no second chances are allowed
what you tell about your loss
keeps them here, so they survive.
