Beachcomber Daydream Poem by James Fredenburg

Beachcomber Daydream

Sometimes
I just want to be
a beachcomber
living on a houseboat
like Travis McGee.

I want to live
somewhere
like Cozumel
or the Virgin Islands.

I want to
wake up early
stay up late
and live within
my natural rhythms.

I want to swim
in warm turquoise oceans
by long white beaches
with beautiful palm trees.

I want to drink
fresh coconut juice
listen to tropical birds singing
and watch the moon move slowly
across a glittering star-filled sky.

Sometimes
I just want to be
a beachcomber
quietly worshiping my God.
