Beachcombing Poem by Angela Wybrow

Beachcombing

Rating: 5.0

Crab shells, and crab legs;
Hair bows, and old washing pegs.
Pieces of glass: frosted and smooth;
Various rocks: some with curious grooves.
Pieces of pottery, with different designs,
May be among the treasure, found upon the strand line.
Skulls and bones, and shark teeth too;
Plastic bottles, and a lone child's shoe.
Cuttlefish bones, and a Lobster claw,
May also be among the items washed ashore.
Pieces of seaweed: green, red and brown.
Add to the treasures, which may be found.
You may see a Starfish, or a Sea Urchin,
Upon the wet sand, whilst you are searching.
Coloured glass marbles, heavy in your hand;
Pieces of driftwood, battered and scattered across the sand.
Bright, terracotta coloured bricks;
A Mermaid's Purse, and translucent jellyfish.
Plastic packaging strewn around,
And, pieces of coral may also be found.
Seashells galore, of numerous kinds,
But, a whole lobster shell, is a much rarer find.
A real treasure trove, the sea can hide -
Revealed only when washed up by the tide.
