Beautiful Warzone- Africa Poem by onesimo odwa mabovula

Beautiful Warzone- Africa

Africa a beautiful warzone
Home to me and you and them
But then the grass is not greener across the oceans.
What would a place be with out any negatives?
Ask yourself.
The world loves Africa, but Africa doesn’t love Africa.
We have shared blood in the past we still spill it…

When will Africa be what it ought to be?
A wonderful place where ethnic background doesn’t count,
A place of joy, love, peace and prosperity,
Africa was made with perfection out of love,
Blessed with a wonderful wild life,
The antelopes, birds, lions, elephants and even the fishes,
The sun embraces the beautiful blue sky by day,
And the moon and the stars hide us at night with a blanket of comfort.

Green forests as a cherry on top,
While hidden riches cause havoc, death, and deceit once uncovered.
Gold, diamonds and the like
Beautiful blue beaches east to west, west to east
Meeting in the shores of Cape Town
People’s dreams are what make Africa dull
People don’t dream of constructive things.

They dream about riches and about having it all
Some willing to wait for it; as the say it is worth the wait
Others want the easy way out; as they say it is a smarter way
But tell me why you are here; what the purpose of your existence is
And that of Africa, why are we placed in this warzone?
Or why do we remain in it?
Why is it a warzone anyway?

Look into it; forget the eyes let civilization lead
If Africa was made to be so beautiful, what’s its purpose?
Was it made to just a beautiful warzone
I deeply doubt that.
Africa is home to me, and you, and them,
and that of rest of the world.
Look at how you can change things
“Don’t consider yourself a victim of circumstances or
Consider thoughts of infidelity; consider a better course for yourself.”

This is indeed a significant poem, it addresses issues of self-pride without the need to belittle others. what struck me were the words 'Africa is home to you and me and THEM'. but we do not seek to rid ourselves of 'them', we embrace the world but we think little of ourselves.this is an inspiring and mind stiring poem, my friend, worth a second thought, 'what's it's purpose? ' and perhaps, 'what is our own? '. thanks for this wonderful piece
