Because... If Poem by Matt Ross

Because... If

If life runs instead of walks by as humans stand in place, what's the point of finding her embrace

If the effort of gaining the rose is met by the pain of the thorn, whose happiness does it truly propose. It's almost innate to find love, methodically sworn

If affliction to attraction is no more than superficial satisfaction then why is it an arms engagement that makes true nature superficial

If you want freedom it's yours, if you want success it's yours, but if you want love, it's kept by locked doors

If all this is true, why you?

Because love may surround our lives and consume us from sweethearts to brides and leave nowhere to confide but for once, with you, my heart has a free ride

Because the deep brown warmth that captivates my every move, the grip of the smile with dark silk that embodies my life, how it improves. It's the utter serenity that holds, not grey or gold, a key that with, my heart you mold

Because of all the laughs I've heard, yours strikes me like the most beautiful song of a bird. As to your voice harmonious bliss is in every word

Because knowing you could unlock a side of me I tend to hide and with you maybe it's my true feeling I can confide

It's because I want to, I want you
