Been Wrong Before Poem by Randy McClave

Been Wrong Before

I thought she was the right woman for me
Us a lifetime together I could see,
No faults in her had I ever saw
I then wanted her and I wanted it all.
I had been married two times already
And I swore to myself never again will I date or go steady,
I didn't want to go through all that pain and suffering again
From their lies and broken promises and their sin.
I thought the perfect woman never did exist
In my mind I thought it was just mist,
Then finally and accidentally I found her
True happiness and love for me finally did occur.
I was excited when we moved in together
Her load was light as a feather,
She brought no luggage into our relationship
And on her shoulders was no grudges or chip.
I thought the first couple of weeks our life was perfect
There was no secrets or any conflict,
There was so much joy and love and laughter
I would finally find that sought after happily ever after.
But, then things started falling apart
Seemingly she now had another heart,
And for awhile I decided to become blind and dumb
Hoping for truth to never come.
I loved and I trusted her with my very life
I wanted her at one time to be my wife,
Then her family and friends told me who she really was
Besides the woman that I did love.
She changed her attitude like changing a dress
She indeed was a great actress,
Now, I didn't want her or loved her anymore
I had been wrong before.
