Before Friends Expire Poem by jess schwarcz

Before Friends Expire

We’re two boxers in a ring
Fighting to live before we all expire
Fighting for our life
To reach the end, finishing all that’s required

It’s like holding a fire in your hand
Like trying to tip an hourglass,
Empty of all its sand
It’s like putting together a puzzle
Without any pieces left to fit

So say goodbye to those you know
Shut your eyes and let them go
Cause you’re life you can’t see
But two feet in front
Or tomorrow what it’ll be

It’s like roping the moon
Without yet one throw
Like living the greatest life
With a broken heart in tow
Like having a split road
And not knowing which way to follow

The ones you call your friends
They’re all out for their own
They won’t be there
To see the sight of your own gravestone
They won’t be there tomorrow
They won’t be there to beg and borrow
Don’t think too much of the people you admire
Cause everything you know today,
Tomorrow will expire

So throw it away
Step into the ring
Lets see if we can survive another day
So step up, this is your song to sing.
Step up, this is your song to sing.

This is your life to live
Not for someone else to take
Or for you to give
This is your life to live

So throw it away
Step into the ring
Lets see if we can survive another day
So step up, this is your song to sing.
So step up, this is your song to sing.

Hi, i especially like the first half of your poem. And i like the fact that in your poem resolve triumphs over emotions. Keep penning!
