Picture Of You Poem by jess schwarcz

Picture Of You

Rating: 5.0

I found a picture of you
Pressed between pages 21 and 22
Of your favorite book
It was faded and torn
But your smile still laughing
Your heart still dancing

My heart feels empty and hollow.
Without you here, I’m filled with sorrow,
Cause I remember our last ride,
I tried and tried but couldn’t help but cry.
The last time I looked into your eyes.
How I keep looking for you,
In the empty, endless skies.

Wrapped in your blanket,
How wish I could see you again.
I keep waiting for the day,
You’ll come dancing down the driveway.
But you’re not coming back,
And there’s no way I can bring you back.
I have to wait until my days catch up with yours.
And when I reach the end,
I just hope you’ll be there waiting,
To make me feel once again protected,
To never again to the world feel rejected.

I hope you’re dancing somewhere
Across the wings of a cloud,
‘Cause you’re all I wanted to be
And because of you,
My dreams, they all came true.
Those great 8 years you gave me,
Every last one of my fantasies.

Never again shall I sit in the sunlight
And not think of you
When I lay down at night
I sleep and my dreams
They always turn again to you

Cause found a picture of you
Pressed between pages 21 and 22
Of your favorite book
It was faded and torn
But your smile still laughing
Your heart still dancing

Baby girl,
I hope you’re flying somewhere
Across the wings of a cloud.
I hope you’re as happy as can be,
Living out every last one of your fantasies.
I hope you’ll remember to look back,
Cause I’m here still loving you.
And baby girl,
Cause I’m here still missing you.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Jess this is one of the loveliest poems I've read on this site. The writing is excellent and the poem itself stands as example of your talent. More touching though is the incredible beauty and the tender manner in which you write of your lost love. I extend my condolences on your loss and my tribute to you for memorializing her so sweetly here. Thanks for sharing.
