Before I Die Poem by Anugo J. Edoka

Before I Die

Rating: 5.0

BEFORE I DIE

Clapping seas, dancing boats afloat

Feared wonders, dreaded ventures

I want to be on them

Moving clouds in the grey sky

Sometimes hiding the sun and other times;

Exposing it's scorching burn

How I wish I could go close

Those shores surrounding home

Posing strangers with different tongues

Where the sun finds a reason to be mild

With a freezing air that somehow rains cold manna

I want to spend eight market days there

Wealth, that mountain that elude my climb

To buy the good things

To settle my debts

And feed the children of Akabo

I want to have them

Peace, that tranquility you hear of

The incomprehensive smile in the light of bad news

That calm amidst turbulent times

The stillness in-between turmoil

That nothingness, I want to face them

Before I kick this bucket

I want to see the proud look;

Pasted on the face of the bed upon which I will breathe my last

For carrying a human who really have lived

Before I die, above all things, I want to live.
