Before, There Was A Time Poem by Joshua Bantum

Before, There Was A Time

Then, each word was the first rain drop breaching the sky,
kissing your lips.

Then,
Each smile was a ray of light to purify through the morning mist.

Then, each glance composed was new music between our eyes,
ones we'd pretend to dismiss.

Then,
Each awkward laugh was sparked in hopes to deny our bodies demanding a kiss.

Then, each touch we shared was forced to be analyzed,
which we knew was ridiculous.

Then,
Each waking morning was an exercise to keep from the abyss.

Before, there was a time when all these details weren't' alive,
And in the future there'll be a time when this song won't be missed.

But Now,
ohh sweet Now
It's all that seems to exist.
