Before We Part Ways Poem by Danny The Dreamer Boyd

Before We Part Ways

Before we part ways,
Come hold me, please,
Stay for a while in my embrace,
Try to remember:
All the years we were together;
Stay in my arms and reminisce.

Who said I sold you out?
How could you believe?
You’re all I think about,
And my heart is on my sleeve!

Hold on, don’t leave,
Why in such a hurry?
Perhaps you’ll pine:
For a memory of our love
And this embrace of mine,
Which you can’t let go of;
Come closer,
Your dreams are in this place!

Who said I sold you out?
You shouldn’t have believed;
You’re all I think about,
And our paths are interweaved.

Before we part ways,
Think of all the days,
Stay for a while in this warm place,
Stay for a while in my embrace,
I’ll hold you close lest you forget; —
I even fear but one regret! —
I know that this indeed I’ll miss,
So please, just give me one last kiss,
And if we still must part our ways:
May you have such much brighter days.
