Before You Die Poem by Maggie Paige

Before You Die

As I hold you in my arms

As I hold you while you die

I wish I could have held you as you cried

As I hold you now as you die

My heart beats fear through my veins

Who will I be when you die?

Will I fall from grace?

Will my broken wings fly?

Will I find the steps to the dance?

Will I find the words to the song?

As I force your heart to beat

And visions flash before my eyes

You gaze up at the sky

As you die

As I hold you in my arms

It’s my turn now

To find the dance

To find the song

That flashes through my blood

See me as I am

One last time

Before you die
