Everyday, i sit down and put on my mask
A face that everyone knows best
With large eyes and a big smile
For you and you and you
I stay here and ponder, wondering what?
What would you be like, the expression on your face
As i stand there before you and take off my mask
Would you see the horrors and pain etched on this face
For all to see who i really am
A tortured and twisted soul of a man
As i reach for you the further away you move
Drives me further into my own dismall despair
Wretched by rejection all over again
Please dont go but see me for me
Resurect the fire in me and stay
Love me as i have always loved you
Make me live again as i did before
Take me away from my internal darkness
That has been my amity for so long
Cut me free by shinning your light
Exorcise the demons in me, cast them out
and replace the emptiness with all your love
Love the man behind the mask
I think everyone has a mask, and I don't know about you but I'm still wearing mine. It's a heavy burden to bare but lighter than the stares once the real you is revealed. This is one of your best in my opinion.
Bravo Jason! A mask is a heavy burden to bare, but it seems sometimes so necessary. I look forward to more of your work.
I can relate to this so well, Brilliant choice of words effective poem and one many can relate too, thank you: o)

Actually every human being have a mask which covers his face and this poem reiterates the point well.
