Behold Poem by Ntozake (Saki) Stringfield

Behold

My future is not beheld unto me or you
It will unravel itself as my life goes on
Like a nightingale
Singing unto the night
Every note a musical one
Unknown to everyone
It tells me the choice that I make
Lead to the steps that I take
As I walk to the future that I have made in store
I smile, as I begin to soar
I’ve done what I been told
as I pass the threshold
I’ve found the future I wanted
Behold
