Being A Bachelor Poem by Randy McClave

I was asked by a dear friend
Do I have a girlfriend,
I said, "no", "no", "none of course"
Not since my last divorce.
I need no woman in my life
Whether it be a girlfriend or a wife,
They cause so much pain and trouble
Which is usually on the double.
I don't need or want a woman who lies or does cheat
Or one who is full of deceit,
Who cannot and would not be honest and true
And who wants to tell me what to do.
I enjoy to travel the world
To new adventures that are unfurled,
I'm always happier traveling all alone
Never to I ever moan.
I need no woman at my side
To help me to ever choose or to decide,
Never do I need a woman's permission
While I'm on my own life's mission.
I don't travel by bus or by a car
I travel by boat and plane that takes me far,
And my final destination
It's always a different culture or nation.
I need no wife or girlfriend with me
Beautiful women are also found across the sea,
My soul will never be owned or sold
So, that it can be manipulated or controlled.
I now wake up everyday with a smile
And never with pain or hurt or guile,
I don't want that past pain anymore
That's why I'm happy to be a bachelor.
