Being-Be-Coming - Poem by Mary Mc Creath

I am becoming a person, a woman,
A Christian, a religious.

I am not these yet- in a finished way.
I am becoming, I am becoming.

To be- coming is exciting. It began when I was born
And soon I entered into the process.

All that I experienced, things,
people, events, God - are -
coming to be before my eyes.

They are never the same for any length of time.
Again and again I have to learn to accept what 'is'
In its be-coming.

Again and again I am surprised at
myself, others,
Changes in the process of
be-coming.

When I let my awareness dull for a time.
It is like living in darkness, underground,
Without light.

Be - coming for me is light, it is an energy
From within that lights up the way of
be-coming.

There is a paradox in becoming.
I become younger as I grow older.
I become filled as I become empty.
I become receptive in giving.
I become sure in unknowing.
I become myself outside myself.

This is a fantastic poem, I loved this dynamic aspect that so often is neglected due to the need to put ourselves into security fixed boxes. Wonderful write. (Report) Reply
