Being Mesmerized By Music Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

We have two adult house cats
Noel is male, Ashes female
They are friendly and social
But not fond of tooth brushing.
Every evening, they rest after dining
But ready to escape when we're approaching
Especially when they see our bent arms and knees.
Noel likes to hide behind furniture
But Ashes hides under our queen bed.
We call for them, but they pretend being deaf.
By chance, my wife plays Fur Elise on piano
Ashes becomes mesmerized by music
She crawls out from under the bed
She wags her tail and punts her head
She wraps herself around my wife's legs.
Aiming for her shoulders, my wife quickly grabs
And I fold her with my arms on my lap,
So, my wife can brush her teeth.
After this, Ashes rests comfortably without fear.
Noel comes out of hiding when he sees Ashes walking
Then, my wife holds him and brushes his teeth.
My wife plays more melodious love songs
Ashes rests near her on the floor and sings her purring along.

MÈO MÊ TIẾNG ĐÀN

Trong nhà tôi có hai mèo
Ashes là chị, em là Noel
Hai mèo vui vẻ, rất thân
Nhưng mà chúng sợ đánh răng mỗi ngày.
Ăn xong cơm tối, chúng nằm
Sẵn sàng chúng chạy như là tên bay
Mỗi khi thấy chủ tới gần
Nhất là khi chủ gối quỳ tay giang.
Noel trốn dưới góc bàn
Ashes thì lại trốn ngay gầm giường.
Chủ kêu, mèo gỉa điếc thôi
Đành lòng chờ đợi, vợ chơi dương cầm
Gầm giường, Ashes chui ra
Fur Elise đã làm say mèo này
Vẫy đuôi, mình uốn, cọ đầu
Mèo này quấn quýt ôm chân chủ nhà.
Vợ tôi ôm lấy vai mèo
Trên đùi, tôi giữ cho mèo nằm im.
Đánh răng Ashes xong rồi
Không còn sợ nữa, mèo ngồi thảnh thơi.
Noel hết trốn, ra chơi
Vợ tôi năn nỉ, chịu ngồi đánh răng.
Vợ tôi chơi tiếp dương cầm
Tình ca réo rắt nhẹ nhàng âm vang
Ashes nằm xoải sàn nhà
Hồn mê tiếng nhạc, mèo ca theo đàn.
