Being On The Left Or On The Right Poem by Hebert Logerie

Being On The Left Or On The Right

Life is not about being on the left
Or being unintelligibly on the right
Bad people exist. A theft is a theft
That's a crime. Good people are right
All the time. Integrity and sincerity
Matter. Respect and love matter
Common sense is the mother
Of our democratic values and decency
A lie has no wings; it won't fly
A plane has no wings either, yet
A butterfly flies in the air like a jet
Many lies are for sale, but I won't buy
None of them. Because I know better
I respect a man or a woman of honor
And I abhor liars, thieves and con artists
The world must denounce the racists
And the narcissists who are destroying
The beauty and the health of Mother Nature
The lives of our people matter. Their future
Depends on all of us who breathe, think and sing.
