Best After Worst Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Best After Worst

Best after worst

The day was, is, has been
-the best that it could be.

The start was phone-call
-then two mails, Bill and Marc.

First gave route-direction for research
-and second:
- "Work is done on your films, VHS."

I called John to tell him
- "Love you all, good friends."

He told me: "I was out;
-Diana heard your call."

The current of my life
-was unlike then when the tide
-took me back to the seas;
-this headed for the beach.

Then, I was kidnapped and
-chose to risk my life and
-practiced swimming
-till a day, in a morning, secretly.

I escaped and jumped in
-when the sun was hiding.

Stroked, headed for the grids…
-but reversed tide with sun
-and washed me back to seas.

I swam with fear
-even though prepared
-and knew what to do.

Suddenly saw the vessel
-that was used as my jail
-approach like monster
-and took me back again.
