Best And Worst Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Best And Worst

Best and worst

Lucky you!

Great was that sudden incident
-fell the roof on your head, you are dead.
-You still felt the taste of the cheese
- (The feta with bread; just toasted…)

Lucky you!
Lucky you!
Lucky you!

Simple fall
-you crushed
-to your death.

Did you see pits of dates?
- (they sat there by plate…)
-you must have…

Did you chat?

Should have heard
-their trip from palm
- (forcefully migrated)
-to being abandoned.

They too, had homely life,
-lived under bright sun.

But removed; they were packed.

They were shipped in boxes
-to be sold in markets.

Wealth, flesh, was taken
-mourning for children, palms remained.
-Enslaved became pits, abandoned
-and blamed: "Savages are useless! "

Each of these could become
-if tendered under sun, great palm.
