Betrayed Poem by Linda Patino

Betrayed

They said you were no good, But I couldn’t imagine my life without you.
You said the magic of love was still there. You just wanted to be free.

You walked away without a tear in your eye as if you never loved me at all.
With a timid sigh I closed my eyes. I felt my heart dropp to my feet.

If I had the power I would change your heart to stay and love me forever.
If I give you a tour to my broken heart you could see how you betrayed the love I had for you.

Impressed by your charm, your words of love sang the rhythm of forever.
You promised me a life fit for a queen. I failed to see you were no king.

You were the sole source to my happiness. I sacrificed everything for you.
You will always hold my heart hostage in your heart intertwined with the love I have for you.

I bought a ticket to a far away train to take me where all broken hearts go to heal the pain.

I can only hope my silent love for you will reach into your heart through the whispering of the wind.
