Beyond Borders - Poem by Henry Kriescher

The cruelty of war that maims
The cries of children in the night
Cries that stop mercilessly --
Hear no more --
The dead do not cry.
For the cries of children reach
Beyond the borders and some,
Only some, must answer the
Calling of the darkness from the
Dungeons of human hearts in fright
And pain that reaches through the night.
