Beyond The Barbed Wires Poem by Henry Tong

Beyond The Barbed Wires

Plunged in the bitter tundra ice,
The solitary guard of solstice heat
Shivered stiff in the Arctic wind.

It heard the harmonica, the dreaded
beauty, the folklore, penetrating
the chill- it was the calving season.
