First Snow In Beijing, Haikus Poem by Henry Tong

First Snow In Beijing, Haikus

Rating: 5.0

Birds on whitened trees,
warbles muted by the snow
in serenity.

Bamboos shaded greenth
bowed their heads toward the sun
saluting aloft.

Rose buds dimmed by dews
its tenderness were shattered
in the start of spring.

Sidewalk by the lake
were stretched for miles into light fog,
endless to return.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I witnessed the first snow in Beijing this year-yes, in mid March. Symbolism is used in this haiku series, as snow mutes the sound of birds and forces creatures to bow low.I admire the crimson rose buds which keeps its color despite of being frozen by the ice. I walked along the river bank and could not see where it ended.
