Beyond The Clouds Poem by Alison Mary Dunn

Beyond The Clouds

Rating: 5.0

When clouds fade I see a dawn of dreams unfold in the fall of words
Floating from the blue sky like snowflakes melting in the sun
They’re always there in the cypher of change where joy and pain will meet
and disperse behind the smiles we choose to keep

It makes me wonder why these eyes of mine look far beyond this place
for systems I have failed to find. Only the dreams we dream still linger on
compelling us to stare towards their future, into the blue again
that fools us to believe there’s something better out there

These dreams will only break there silence when our hearts have learned to speak
When words can voice themselves and touch us as we want them to
Yet we hide away till the day has ended, when there once more we’ll sleep alone
And back to back we lie, you and I, wide awake, still dreaming of blue skies beyond the clouds.....

Very poignant, but sadness has its beauty too. The first stanza is my favorite. As always, Sandra
