Bilbo And Jane Poem by Francis Duggan

Bilbo And Jane

Not bad for an old bloke he is seventy nine
To get him drunk it would take far more than a liter of wine
Bilbo he surely is one tough old bloke
If everyone were like him the doctors would be unemployed and broke
For he has never been to a doctor in his life
Though the same cannot be said of Jane his long term wife
In her seventy seventh year she does not always feel physically well
Of late she has been in hospital though of time not for a long spell
But her husband Bilbo in his life he has never felt ill
Though of liquor he is one who has often drunk his fill
Ageing grandparents married since their physical prime
For close to fifty years this is quite a long time
Jane says of Bilbo he is my greatest friend
And him i will love until my life's journey end.
