People live forever in Jacksonville and St. Petersburg and Tampa,
But you don't have to live forever to become a grampa.
The entrance requirements for grampahood are comparatively mild,
You only have to live until your child has a child.
Friendship is love,
Without friendship love means nothing!
The white woman across the aisle from me says 'Look,
look at all the history, that house
on the hill there is over two hundred years old, '
as she points out the window past me
I woke up this morning
and I was mourning
weary and broken
my life burnin' down to ashes and smokin'
On an island the soft hue of memory,
moss green, kerosene yellow, drifting, mingling
in the Caribbean Sea,
a six-year-old named Alfred
O Great Spirit,
You who in Your form of the Chapungu,
the great eagle with sharper eye than any aeroplane,
watches over us and knows all things;
More like a vault -- you pull the handle out
and on the shelves: not a lot,
and what there is (a boiled potato
in a bag, a chicken carcass
Twisting back to time old memory we see,
Love builds heaven at home love is the key.
Sea of emotion floats in waves of joy light,
I know, or I think I know, where I was born.
New Plymouth, a city with two sprawling cemeteries,
where I found my grandparents' gravestones at last,
but they were covered in gray lichen and moss.
O TAKE my hand, Walt Whitman!
Such gliding wonders! such sights and sounds!
Such join'd unended links, each hook'd to the next!
My dear father,
Who was determined to educate me well,
To the best of his ability.
Remained throughout my life,
There is a place called Hope, Arkansas
Where a little boy grew up
No one ever dreamed that one day
His name would be on a special cup
Thank You Mom-for holding me in your loving arms every time I cried.
Thank You Mom-for changing my diaper and singing me to sleep.
Thank You Mom-for holding my hand as you walked me onto the bus my first day of school.
Thank You Mom-for trudging through the snow each winter to watch me perform in the school play.
On the shelf above the crackling fire,
the day’s work over, shadows swaying and flickering
across the room, in the firelight’s glow;
here is love abiding
A dear old couple my grandparents were,
And kind to all dumb things; they saw in Heaven
The lamb that Jesus petted when a child;
Their faith was never draped by Doubt: to them
My neighbor's little son is so smart
In a write up on Grandparents, he wrote
"They never seem to hurry,
Any time, can tell a story
Hi. The name is Lou.
Born in the land of the new moon,
raised in the Pearl of the Orient.
My Grandparents as my Parents,
The first stage is the age of dependence,
Rest is a journey to the independence
Man entirely depends on his parents,
The main attraction is the grandparents,
take a step and look back all you ever wanted to be as a child is someone that is loved and cared for, my peace isnt done in my head. being the middle child sucks but iam as patient with is as i can. living a life with abuse and lies. seeing my mom walk the line all the time.it shouldnt be like that right. all the lies gambling and mis treatment of everything my mom did as i seen most of it. its hard to love when u grew up in lies and betrayal your whole life and understanding it wasnt your fault you were a sad lonely child just growing up to make little ones of our own trying to get by.your grandparents and ur step dad is all that you have had growing up that didnt make u cry or break your heart mutiple times its nice having parents by your side. i grew up struggling as a single parent. but i did it. i learned from it.being in abiusve relationship with someone u had a baby with u would think would protect you but didnt.men lie but everyone lies.we lie to ourseleves everyday because we cant face reality of being lonely and sad loss most of the time. but we r all trying to survive. forgiveness is what i try, but being a sad lonely child sometimes can be rewarding you grow up to be stronger and better than what you were before.
"We have a surprise for you! " They told their grandchildren who were staying with them for a few nights. "We guarantee you'll be amazed…it is a truly wondrous sight."
Moments such as these one has to experience…it's not something you can't teach…
so they loaded them into the car and headed to the beach.
My Father's Day present from my daughter each year since our first grandchild was born has been a 'T' shirt with my grandchildren's picture on the front…which I happily have worn.
once the fashionable social nuclear family
was promoted as a perfect modern model
of a solid safe home good family pedigree
As The Bible Tells Me So
we are descendants
from our great-great-great-grandparents
If the rules were suddenly reversed
And the children were to die first,
Because of the virus still up in the air
Wouldn't more people then worry and care.
Writing a poem is not about bringing some words together to create some charming sentences. It's so much deeper than that. Writing poetry is a bridge that allows people to express their feelings and make others live every single word they read. Poetry is to educate people, to lead them away from hate to love, from violence to mercy and pity. Writing poetry is to help this community better understand life and live it more passionately. PoemHunter.com contains an enormous number of famous poems from all over the world, by both classical and modern poets.
