Black Forest Of Ignorance Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Black Forest Of Ignorance

Rating: 5.0

We felt the forest before we saw her
Before our carriage cleared the bend
At dusk the meadow was still and solemn
The forest beyond the tall grass stood

Within the purple eye of this fading day
No welcome sun or hint of light remained
Moon mist upon our shoes did settle
The horses shook their nervous manes

Huddled in this dark and ancient clearing
The forest roared with pines near breaking
Wind whipped grass weaved ghastly shapes
A black forest created by minds bent on hating

But now brother moon he laced the meadow
Pillars of light led us on our way
Away from the gloom of fear and ignorance
In darkness you can still find the light of day

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Nobody gets a pass. Blaming color black or white is simplistic and dangerous.

Edmund, such an apt write for TODAY: Couldn't have said it as well as you have. Love your pen. A 10!

What a splendid description of the forest you have given and to relate it with ignorance, this is a great idea. Hatred and ignorance are indeed the biggest problems of the world. It's superb how you have made your point through the metaphor of the dark forest. But in darkness you can still find the light of the day....the poem ends on a very optimistic note after giving a dark picture. Excellent, fully deserving of 10.
