Black Lungs, Mixed Tongues. Poem by Kayley Smith

Black Lungs, Mixed Tongues.

Breaking dreams, stomping hearts,
Wondering how we all came to part.
Only being true to few,
Now wishing we could of knew.
Black lungs, Mixed tongues,
Mommas got that beautiful glow,
It’s too bad no-one can know.
News would travel fast,
Some just wont forget the past.
Daddy swallowed a few too many pills,
Doc said he went off the deep end,
He was going for the kill.
I refuse your proposal to make amends.
Blue eyed beauty I destroyed from the inside out,
Soul divided in two all from lack of doubt.
Guilty as charged, I’ll never learn to live without.
Beautiful dove just couldn’t make it,
Headless body didn’t know what hit.
Keeping you close, so you don’t forget,
for the past 6 months we’ve been a duet,
Not letting you see my thoughts,
Wishing for some god damn shots.
Everyday I feel myself loose more and more,
We used to be each others’ core.
I never expected you to wait around,
Especially when I won’t make a sound,
At a certain point, I knew you’d move on,
I want you to know ill never forget this bond.
Breaking dreams, stomping hearts,
Wondering how we all came to part,
Only being true to few,
Now wishing we could of knew.
