When I first spied her, I felt glad! Her smile impressed me most,
And oh, what thoughts of love I had, once feeling so engrossed.
She smiled my way, and I smiled, too, and then I gulped and sighed,
I'm shy, but if I saw things through, perhaps she'd be my bride!
My eyes met hers, her eyes met mine, and then her smile increased.
Perhaps she'd be my Valentine if my love made her pleased.
Romance is more than sudden whims if we both take our time,
If one warm evening, moonlight dims and each kiss proves sublime.
I can't remember what I said when I approached my love,
Despite a sudden, trembling dread, would chatting prove enough?
Yet I'll admit it readily, things went just like I planned,
And so we dated steadily, till we walked hand in hand.
A single rose portrayed my dreams, a scarlet necklace, too,
Sweet sentiments yet no extremes, because they wouldn't do.
Declaring I was more than fond, not simply as a friend,
I'd flirt with her, and she'd respond to poems that I penned.
Then one day, on one knee, I said four words that changed my life,
And very soon, we both were wed! 'Nuff said! She's now my wife!

Here is a romantic superhero-style tribute poem shared by the
Poemhunter poet Denis Martindale called BLACK WIDOW!
The love poem describes the guy's first meeting, followed
by a gently blossoming true love story. Once they declare their
true feelings, hopes and dreams, the guy can't help himself,
and his 'Will you marry me? ' proposal changes everything!
