Narrow confines, open space
deepened longing
swollen heart in faith embrace
sweet belonging
Spring alive, water gushing
cupped in hand
pilgrim feet on errand rushing
proudly stand
Challenged lives, outstretched arm
faith kissed doubt
opened minds to welcome balm
dethrone the drought
Visage muddied, herb chewed
washed the face
sin forgiven, death eschewed
amazing grace
Selfless service, freely brought
fresh love born
wordless lesson, quietly taught
proud hearts torn
Torchlight breaks darkened sky
brings new light
eager hymns like happy cry
bless the night
Silent prayer at grotto touches rock
brings forth tears
of faith strong enough to break the lock
and banish fears
Mary takes our woes and for us prays
she is mother;
in our childlike hearts she stays
there is no other
This is Lourdes, great shrine indeed
of faithful love
where all our hopes immerse in creed
blessed from above.
