Blind Poem by Ashley Proulx

Blind

I may seem blind to the dangers this life throws at us all but I know they exist and I can see the rise and falls.
I was born with a gift greater than the dangers that are bestowed upon us.
I see all before it happens, my instincts are strong and my intuition runs deep.
This world is an ugly place and at times I cannot find the point to living in it but I try to see the beauty and I know goodness and purity still exist and because of that I am still here.
I would have taken my life long ago If I felt hope was not real.
My faith and compassion for others put my fears aside and I was able to survive.
I don’t want to think of the horrors this world has witnessed for I have witnessed enough on my own and I’m tired of dwelling on all the things that are wrong, negative, dark and cold.
So it will be that I would no longer exist in the cruelty. That is why I ignore the evil ways of mankind and stay happily sedated in my own mind. Live, laugh, love like tomorrow doesn’t exist.
So now you know why I am care free, why I cannot let fears get the best of me because it will be fear that kills me….
