Blind To Nature Poem by David Wood

Blind To Nature

We walk around the park
But take no notice of nature.
We all look but don't see
The naked trees pointing skywards,
Fallen leaves now sodden.

We look up at the sky
But don't notice billowing clouds.
The wind is all we feel
As it makes cold our face and hands
From autumn through to spring.

We look at the river,
We look out to sea in summer,
We don't see the plastic,
We don't see other pollutants,
We don't think about it.

We complain of much rain
That is now lasting days longer
Pouring day after day.
Flooding from wild swollen rivers.
Now becoming the norm.

Nature in harmony - no.
The invisible pollution,
CO2 methane too,
Plastic, fossil fuel, chemicals,
Sewage and detergents.

Nature is now changing
We look but our eyes aren't open
We are too complacent
Climate change doesn't affect us
We walk around the park.
