Blood Feast Poem by Nathan Killeen

Blood Feast

I was human once
When there were days,
But sunlight fled into the night
Leaving me in darkness.

Betrayed by sun,
The sun I betrayed
And from it’s path
I had then strayed.
Becoming one with darkness.

Then sun returned
And shadows fled.
Its light shone in
And filled with dread
This creature now of darkness.

Flesh burns away,
As shadows hide,
And this is why
I live my life
Enshrouded by the darkness.

But hunger calls
To moving things
A craving never known.
And drives me to do evil things
I never would have done,
Were I not now filled with darkness.

So I feast upon the bloods
Of man and beast alike
And every now and then again
I further spread the darkness.

And how I love my night.
