Bonnie The Maid Poem by Randy McClave

Bonnie The Maid

Bonnie the old maid
About town she did always parade,
She was as happy as she could be
Because, she was single and free.
She needed no man at her side
To that fact to all she had cried,
To be happy and productive in this life
She always said, "you need not be a wife".
She was told that she needed a man
As that is God's ultimate plan,
But, she knew that wasn't the truth
As she had once took a bite of that fruit.
She had once loved and was married
Over the threshold she once was carried,
And during her marriage
She was blessed in needing a baby carriage.
Her friends said again she should wed
Before time passes and she is dead,
They said, "no one should ever die all alone"
All of her women friends did cry and moan.
Bonnie has family here, there and everywhere
She always sends family and friends cards and a prayer,
And of course an old maid she is not
Truth and facts others were never taught.
Bonnie the maiden walks down the street
A stranger to no-one does she meet,
Then she spoke with a twinkle in her eye
"I won't be alone or sad when I die".
