Books Poem by Jon Yttri

Books

A book may tell of Doc Holliday in the old west
Or what you must know for a civil service test.
A book may contemplate the soul of man.
A book may tell of ancient Japan.
A book may tell how to cook cheese flambeau,
Or what to do in Chicago,
Or how to grow chrysanthemum plant,
Or how to mend a pair of pants.
A book may feature goblins and ghosts,
Or how to guide a sailboat.
A book may have a detective case,
Or history of the Kentucky horse race.
A book may tell of tyrannosaurus rex;
Or feature hot, steamy saunas.
A book may tell of Stan Musial
Or of happenings quite unusual.
A book may tell of the work of Galileo
Or recipes that call for jello.
A book may tell the rules of skat
Or the best way to raise a cat.
Whatever challenge you want to meet,
Or whatever foe you need defeat;
You need not take a further look
Than the pages of a book.
