Born To Live Poem by Robert Mahoney

Born To Live

Rating: 4.5

Too long, I’ve held on to a lost cause
Believing in a fools dream
They tried to show me what was wrong
I was too far to be reached
Long gone, dwelling on what once was
I let today escape me
Realized, that we only get one shot
Life is passing by me
So tonight, I’m setting myself free
But I will not forget the way we used to be
A memory

I’m ready to move on
Ready to let go
Ready to stand up on my own
I’m ready to begin
Ready for today
Ready to finally seize the day
I was born to live

Hold on, there’s so much left to say
Too little time to say it in
Mistakes, I see now that I have made
Too late to fully make amends
So long, the time has come to part ways
Guess this is where our roads end
Hearts ache, no one has the strength to say
Until we meet again
Well tonight, I’m setting myself free
But I will not forget the way we used to be
A memory

I’m ready to move on
Ready to let go
Ready to stand up on my own
I’m ready to begin
Ready for today
Ready to finally seize the day
I was born to live

I can’t go on, holding on to yesterday
I can’t dwell on, the things I wish that I could say
I can’t pretend, that we will ever be the same
I won’t forget, these memories won’t go away
My one regret, is letting myself go to waste
Living in a memory

We’re ready to move on
Ready to let go
Ready to stand up on our own
We’re ready to begin
Ready for today
Ready to finally seize the day
We were born to live
